Even when I was at the height of my training, I was so awkward and anxious about hearing myself on tape. It always freaked me out. There's a charisma to live performance that often doesn't translate into recording, but recordings have become the default of musicianship these days. It puts a damper on the career of people who are magnetic live and dull on tape.
So I think I'm commiserating? Yes. Quire sounds like such fun, I almost wish I had something like that here, save for the part where we'll be in Iowa in 3/4 months or so.
