Filled with the fire of the world
I press against you in the vast, black night
And, tangled together, we grow like wild vines

Two stark plants, urged to sudden flower
The colors of passion flow and merge around us
Unearthing murmured secrets,
For there are no secrets here.

We run over time by the speed
Of our own heartbeats
Regardless of its ruinous hands.
We dance the way the blood flows
Mingled, in our veins.

And you, eternal, you close
On me like a cloak of summer twilight.
Carry me to rest in your fortress
Of night steel and the whispered past

I sleep, to your drum beating in my body.
I dream as the forest would dream, ineffable.

I am safe within your strong heart,
And nothing will displace me.
