Strange losses... men died...
Mar. 31st, 2003 10:46 amI've just had the good fortune to find that the second of two fantastic bands is putting out a brand new album this summer. The first, and by far my favourite out of ANYTHING in my horrible kaleidescope of musical tastes, is Faith and the Muse. The second is a more electronic project with absolutely fantastic lyrical content called ThouShaltNot.
Both are producing new albums for the summer, and tours. I hear rumor from the tiger's brother, though I know not from where he has garnered this delicious information, that FATM might, MIGHT, be visiting Alaska on their tour for this summer. The hope is distant and frail, but it's there, which is what mattered. TSN is also planning a tour, and sent out on their list that if we wanted them to visit our city we should email them and badger local promoters. I responded to the email with my suggestion, among others, and will see about talking to DJs and others in the near future. Again, the hope is thin that they'll actually be able to come all the way out here, but what matters is that I spoke up.
Also, TSN asked in their newsletter if anyone wanted to put together a ThouShaltNot LiveJournal community... I'm also going to see if I can't arrange something along those lines.
In other news... I've met some new people, which automatically means a burst in new music, good and bad. On the new list is included:
In Extremo
In Flames
The Haunted
Attrition (which I've secured none of)
London After Midnight
Sometime soon I'm going to take a screenshot of my music folder, with all it's band-titled subfolders, and ask for suggestions as to what to go hunt down next.
I'm still listening to way too much VNV Nation. Finally secured the Grey Dawn mix of Beloved. Beautiful.
Also, has any out there heard of French group Noir Desir? I'd like to find some more out about them... maybe an english-based site or two.
Music is all that's in my head right now. Music and money. The latter of which I have none of now, but will be getting a hopefully magnificent paycheck tomorrow. I need to find another job. It was suggested to me that I might look into the entry-level job of doing housekeeping at a hospital. Pays well, AND they're always hiring. Very worth looking into. Wouldn't it just be grand if I, completely uninterested in the medical, beat my lovely pre-med absorbed, knowledgeable, and inspired sister to working at that hospital she plans to? That would almost make me feel bad... but, of course, I'll be sterilizing things, doing laundry, and cleaning bedpans. I refuse to take a job at Providence, lest I'm driven mad from the paranoia of a small chinese man jumping out from behind a wall and telling me I need to take more Zoloft.
I think I'm going to head away. Stiff school keyboard making my wrists ache. My soda, kosherly outside of the library, is probably going flat as well. No one likes flat soda.
